Home Sweet Home

WHAT IS HOME SWEET HOME?
Home Sweet Home is a program we at HandUP take very seriously. We believe that home ownership is important because statistics show that it provides stability to a family, a feeling of more control over life, and helps children achieve more in school while also increasing the likelihood of graduating college. HandUP assists in this aspect through renovating houses and offering houses and apartments to rent for those who struggle with finances while also providing the opportunity of home ownership with a rent-to-own program.

ELIGIBILITY

Home Sweet Home is available for homeowners on low or fixed incomes that need repairs to make their homes safe and functional. If the cost of the job is beyond our limits, we can partner with the homeowner and/or other agencies to make the repairs.

APPLY
Stop by the office for an Assistance application or download one here. English or Spanish. Fill it out, gather all the required documents, and return the application to the HandUP office in person. A staff member will briefly interview you and review your application to make sure it is complete. We will be asking whether or not you have funds to put toward your project and whether you have any skilled or unskilled volunteers to help. We also require a site visit to evaluate the requested repairs before making a decision on acceptance into the program.

REQUIREMENTS
You must be the homeowner. Your mortgage must be current.

If you love home improvement projects, give us a call and we'll put you on the list for the next available project!
